We Believe
THE GOSPEL
At Aliso Creek Church, the gospel is at the center of everything. All of our beliefs and practices flow from it because it lies at the heart of the Bible’s message (see our Vision and Values page for more about the gospel). What follows outlines our understanding of the gospel and its implications for our lives.
GOD
God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He exists as one God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—working together in perfect unity to carry out his plan of redemption. Through the gospel, we are invited into a relationship with God, who has revealed himself through his word.
HUMANITY
God made us in his image, starting with Adam and Eve. Like them, we’ve all chosen to turn away from him, and that rebellion is the essence of sin. Sin separates us from God, leaving us guilty before him. Yet through Jesus, we find forgiveness. God is at work in us, renewing us to reflect the image of Christ and restoring what was lost.
CHRIST
Jesus is the center of God’s redemptive plan. He is the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh to save us. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross in our place, and rose from the dead. He ascended to heaven, where he reigns with the Father, and will one day return to bring his kingdom to completion. Through faith in Jesus, we receive salvation, new life, and a place in God’s family.
THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s written word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and without error. It is our ultimate authority for faith and life, revealing who God is and his plan for salvation. More than a set of rules, the Bible is a living story that points us to Jesus from beginning to end.
THE CHURCH
The church is made up of people called by God to be part of his family. The church has no perfect people, but we follow a perfect savior. When we gather for worship, we experience a foretaste of the eternal joy that awaits us. Being a Christian means belonging to the body of Christ, expressed through connection to a local church. Here, we are strengthened by God’s word, the sacraments (baptism and the Lord's Supper), prayer, worship, and fellowship with one another.
MISSION
The Holy Spirit brings us into the church to rest in the love and grace of Jesus, but we are also sent out on mission. We are called to love our neighbors and share the good news of Jesus. God has prepared good works for us to do, and we participate in his mission to make disciples—here in Aliso Viejo, throughout Orange County, and around the world. As we live out this calling, we witness and experience God’s transforming power.
